Project Overview

In this design project children become familiar with built environment around our school building. Group of nine year old and group of twelve year old participate in this design project. The actual place for project is located in the park behind the school building. What would be the childrens point of view to the park? We will also become familiar with city planning and design prosess in general.

City planning architects Päivi Airas and Anne-Maj Rope and city gardener Kirsi Kujala will participate in this design project.

<p>TAIKA Finding a Park exhibition in Lahti Region Environmental Service 6.10.-30.11.2010.</p>
<p>We met&nbsp;at saturday morning with both groups (Finding a Park 1 and 2)&nbsp;and painted the figures. It was raining the&nbsp;whole day so we had to paint indoors.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Today I met Lahti city gardeners Hannu Neuvonen and&nbsp;Kirsi Kujala.&nbsp;Anne Lehto who will coordinate building&nbsp;process&nbsp;participate also&nbsp;in the meeting.&nbsp;They had desided to replace small part of the existing fence based on one of the childrens design&nbsp;(red background&nbsp;with folourful figures)&nbsp;.&nbsp;Meeting was also about&nbsp;about the timetable and&nbsp;structure of the new fence. We also desided that carpenter will build the fence and paint a first coat. Children will paint the colorful figures afterwards.</p>
<p>Today pupils finished the scale models.</p> <p>During&nbsp;summer time city gardener and city planning architects will&nbsp;define timetable and how to built the fence based on children designs.</p>
<p>Pupils presented&nbsp;ideas&nbsp;and scale models&nbsp;for city planning architect and city gardener. Comments about structure, form and&nbsp;colours were excellent.</p>
<p>Pupils make models from wood&nbsp;in scale 1:4.</p>
<p>City gardener Kirsi Kujala gave us guidelines for&nbsp;materials, scructure and&nbsp;proportion. We visited park again and looked closely a existing fence. Material for new design is wood. What would be a form, colours and&nbsp;proportion?</p>
<p>City planning architect Anne-Maj Rope visited our school today and&nbsp;pupils presented ideas and skecthes&nbsp;for meeting place in park.</p>
