<p>After the walk we came back to school and discussed about built environment around our school building.&nbsp;We also visited&nbsp;<a href="http://www.lahti.fi">www.lahti.fi</a> website and looked aerial view and&nbsp;maps from school area.&nbsp;After that everybody draw a map how they experienced the area based on walk.</p>

<p>We walked around the school building and visited the park. Children had digital cameras and they took fotos.</p>

<p>The park behind our school building is located in middle of apartment buildings. At this moment it is covered with snow.</p>

<p>I had a meeting with city planning architects. We decided a place&nbsp;(park located behind our school building) for design&nbsp;project and discussed&nbsp;our visit to city planning office and timetable for the project.</p>

2 Ideas, sketching

<p>After finishing the models we will look at closely a fence around the park. Task is to design a fence together and also built a model in scale 1:1.</p>

<p>Today city planning architects and city gardener visited our school. Pupils presented their ideas and projects for them.</p>

<p>Today we started to built models (scale 1:100) in small groups or individually. We use materials as wood, insulation board, fabrik, metal, paper, cardboard, small stones, recycled materials...</p>

4 Testing and prototyping

<p>First pupil discussed and draw sketches. After that we collected everything that been made and selected best idea. Idea was to use existing fence as a base for a new design. Pupils comments about the existing fence: gray, boring, dark... Could it be folorful and jouful? Pulils idea for wooden fence is to replace most of the boards with the colorful animal figures and paint remain boards.</p> <p>Pupils make together a model in scale 1:1</p>

5 Presentation of the final result

<p>We met&nbsp;at saturday morning with both groups (Finding a Park 1 and 2)&nbsp;and painted the figures. It was raining the&nbsp;whole day so we had to paint indoors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Today I met Lahti city gardeners Hannu Neuvonen and&nbsp;Kirsi Kujala.&nbsp;Anne Lehto who will coordinate building&nbsp;process&nbsp;participate also&nbsp;in the meeting.&nbsp;They had desided to replace small part of the existing fence based on one of the childrens design&nbsp;(red background&nbsp;with folourful figures)&nbsp;.&nbsp;Meeting was also about&nbsp;about the timetable and&nbsp;structure of the new fence. We also desided that carpenter will build the fence and paint a first coat. Children will paint the colorful figures afterwards.</p>

<p>Today pupils presented a new design for fence and model in scale 1:1 (We will finish the model after summer holiday). Also group of twelve year old presented their designs on wednesday. During&nbsp;summer time city gardener and city planning architects will&nbsp;define timetable and how to built the fence based on children designs.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
